History
The HEIG-VD originated with the founding in 1956 of the Technicum Cantonal Vaud (TCV), which eventually moved to a new campus in Yverdon-les-Bains in 1975.
In 1998, the three state engineering schools in Vaud merged -- Lausanne School of Engineering (EIL - Ecole d'ingénieurs de Lausanne), the Swiss Engineering College for Printing and Packaging (ESIG+ Ecole suisse d'ingénieurs des industries graphique et de l'emballage) and Vaud State School of Engineering (EINEV - Ecole d'ingénieurs de l'Etat de Vaud) -- to form a new entity called the Engineering School of the Canton of Vaud (EIVD – Ecole d'ingénieurs du Canton de Vaud).
The Professional School for Economy and Administration (Ecole Supérieure de Cadres pour l'Economie et l'Administration - ESCEA) was founded in 1980 in Lausanne.
In 1996, it became the School of Engineering and Management (HEG-Vd - Haute Ecole de Gestion du Canton de Vaud) and moved to new quarters at Avenue de Collonges in Lausanne. In 1998, the EIVD and HEG-Vd became members of the HES-SO (the University of Applied Sciences) and thus officially recognised as equivalents to a university.
The two schools have collaborated for many years in different areas of applied research and development. In 2005, they merged to become the School of Management and Engineering Vaud (HEIG-VD, Haute Ecole d'Ingénierie et de Gestion du Canton de Vaud).
